How can I create fabulous waves?
Q. I have Asian hair which falls straight and past my shoulders. I really want to create loose waves for my big day but can't seem to do it myself. Can you recommend any products or appliances?
A. Severin Hubert says: Absolutely. I could never be without a set of good ceramic heated rollers. I use them on 70 per cent of my brides' hair and they don't just set the hair in waves but create a wonderful sleekness too. Alternatively, I would advise you to invest in a fabulous pair of curling tongs. I love the Conical Wand from Babyliss Pro. You will also need the help of some magical products to keep your waves in place. Start when your hair is wet by applying a good styling gel like Sweet Orange & Silk Protein by John Masters Organics. To create the curls blow dry your hair and divide it into small sections. Roll each section up into heated rollers, or curl them with the hand. When you have finished leave hair to cool for a short while and then gently tease the hair with your fingers until you achieve the desired loose look. Finally fix the style with a good hairspray - my favourite is Sea Mist from John Masters Organic. |

I don't know what to do with my curly hair!
Q. I'm of mixed heritage and have really tight curly hair that sits on my shoulders. I have no idea what to do with it on my wedding day as I usually just wear it loose, or in a pony tail. Do you have any ideas?
A. Severin Hubert says: First of all I would recommend you enhance those beautiful curls by applying styling gel to freshly washed hair. Leave it to dry naturally then, just before styling, place a small amount of wax in your hands and gently sweep through your locks to give them a lovely shine. In terms of styles, there are two that would look fabulous on your hair. I would suggest either creating a loose French pleat or a soft low bun, worn to the side, with some curls left loose to frame your face, creating a romantic look. Why not add some hair accessories too? Fresh flowers or crystal hair pins placed through the hair will work well with either of these up dos and give a delicate finish. |

Step-by-step
Q. If you want to look like a star on your big day, why not opt for a dramatic up do, like this high bun? We asked its creator, Severin Hubert of the Hepburn Collection, for a step-by-step guide on how to recreate the look. If you like it, steal it!
A. Severin Hubert says: Prepare your hair: First blow dry your hair and then place it in medium-sized heated rollers for volume. Once they have cooled, remove them and brush hair with a bristle brush. At the front of the head, section a small fringing area (this will form a wrap later on) and clip it aside to keep it out of the way. Create the bun: Brush hair up into a firm ponytail at the crown of your head and secure it with an elasticated band. Next, use a circular-shaped hair pad and wrap the hair around it, up towards the crown, shaping it like a half moon. Secure either side of the pad with hair grips. Fabulous fringe: Remove the clip and sweep the fringe section over to the side and tuck the ends into the bun or behind your ear. Et voila:To finish, spray with a firm hold hairspray.
