Wedding Fact File Couple: Rebecca Swindlehurst and Sam Coward Date: Saturday 1st May Venue: Marriot West India Quay, Canary Wharf Theme: Colourful and contemporary |

Rebecca says...We chose our venue as it is close to the O2, where we got engaged while at a Stevie Wonder concert, and we thought our photos would look great with the backdrop of Canary Wharf Tower and the quays. We chose a colour scheme of pink, purple, orange and lime. Our flowers looked really vibrant and made the ceremony and reception room completely our own. The groom wore a purple tailored suit while the best man and ushers all wore slim fit suits with individually coloured ties. My maid of honour wore a bright orange evening dress and my young bridesmaids wore bright pink princess style dresses. The most memorable part of the day was when the registrar introduced us as Mr and Mrs Swindlehurst, which is my maiden name. All of our friends and family thought it was hilarious and poor Sam is still being referred as Mr S!

Wedding Fact File Couple: Kate Haffenden and Mike Sachs Date: Friday 9th July Venues: Chelsea Registry Office and The Bluebird restaurant, Chelsea Theme: Rock and roll |
| |

Kate says...Because we were moving to Los Angeles a couple of weeks after our wedding, Mike and I had a lot of help from our family and friends. They did an awesome job and found us an amazing photographer, free goodies for our reception/leaving party, and even spotted that the dress I wanted was on sale. Mike and I work for a record company and since rock 'n' roll is really what brought us together, it was important that the day reflected that. We had The Wildhearts and The Replacements playing as we took our vows. I had striking turquoise eyeshadow and extensions in my red hair, adding purple and turquoise flowers for a pin-up look. Mike wore skinny black jeans, a black shirt and tie, a studded belt and Converse trainers. Mike has always been known for his long hair, and ahead of the move to LA he decided to cut it off. He raised £700 for charity as a result and everyone at the party chipped in. It was a totally perfect day and could not have been better.

Couple: Ogechi Emeagi and Kenneth Anochie Date: Saturday 10th April Venues: St Antony's RC Church, Forest Gate and The Old Town Hall, Stratford Theme: Vibrant and romantic |
| |
Ogechi says...We love the church we got married in as it has intricate stained glass windows and is set in a well manicured garden, and we chose the Old Town Hall for its lovely high ceiling and beautiful chandeliers. The venue also has a courtyard, which allowed our guests to mingle in the sunshine. Our colour scheme was chocolate brown, ivory and gold, and we also had traditional Nigerian attire that consisted of mint green and gold hues. At the church we had The East London Chorus choir perform - they sounded amazing and made the service so memorable. We wanted our guests to feel the vibrancy of the occasion at our reception too, so we hired the King Masco dance troupe, which created an energetic atmosphere. The best part of the day was waking up to a glorious sunny morning and saying our vows to each other in front of our family and friends. The smiles that we saw on our guests' faces made Ken and I enjoy the day even more.

Wedding Fact File Couple: Lucy Hongyan Zhao and John Blackburn Date: Thursday 15th April Venue: Pembroke Lodge, Richmond Park Theme: East meets West |
| |
Lucy says...We wanted to hold both our wedding ceremony and reception in one beautiful venue, and we chose Pembroke Lodge for its stunning rooms and views of the historic Richmond Park. We had a traditional English wedding but we made sure that there were Chinese references throughout the day in our choice of music, poems and the traditional Chinese wedding character for 'double happiness' in our decorations. Every single part of the wedding was so special. Particularly memorable moments include when my husband read an ancient Chinese love poem, and when my daughter read another poem on the celebration of the occasion. Even the registrar read two English poems to congratulate our matrimonial union.
